Property Photo Checklist

A quick field guide for creating clear, current property photographs.

Blog Post summary

A quick field guide for creating clear, current property photographs.

Start with orientation

Photograph the street approach, address or identifying feature, all exterior elevations, parking, access points, and surrounding site. These overview images help a reviewer understand how detail photographs fit together.

Cover each major area

Capture full rooms, units or suites where authorized, common areas, utility areas, and outdoor spaces. Stand in corners when practical and keep the camera level.

Document condition honestly

Add close photographs of visible damage, repairs, equipment labels, stains, cracks, and unfinished work. Do not use filters or angles intended to conceal condition.

Label and protect

Name files by area and date. Remove images showing IDs, account information, security codes, people without permission, or unrelated personal belongings.

Photo checklist

Use daylight; clean the lens; take wide and detail views; include every accessible area; note spaces not photographed; and keep original files.
